Description
A4. 282 full colour pages. Laminated boards.
"Published in 2026. Hardback. Sceattas. The Alternative Database. In Print, is much more than just a database of more than 1500 high resolution sceattas images. It is also a comprehensive guide to their identification, with simplified descriptions which highlight the differences between each variety, The images themselves have been painstakingly assembled from a multitude of sources such as auction houses and coin dealers as well as metal detectorists. Avoiding where possible those images that are already found on the standard databases such as PAS and EMC.
The primary system of identification used is Abramson's Sceatta List numerical system, backed up by Rigold's letter system and the BMC numbers, where possible.
It should be noted that not every single Sceatta List variety was available from the above mentioned resource, but this book is not intended to compete with Sceatta List, more as an essential specimen based companion for anyone with a copy of Sceatta List. Although it is still a stand alone work for those who wish to learn about sceattas and study them.
