Quarto, title printed within typographic border, in sepia, pp. (2); 176, printed on rectos only; illustrations in text. Publisher's original dark green beveled cloth, gilt decorated; minimal wear; minor scuffing at extremities; all page edges gilt; and quite sound, and exceptionally clean and fresh. Contents fresh and as new. Rarely found in such nice clean condition.
The only record of a truly magnificent collection of milled coins, especially rich in patterns and proofs, and sold by Spink prior to the series of auctions of the remaining portions of the monumental Montagu collection, sold in London, 1895-1896. (See: Manville & Robertson p. 167). |
