Description Quarto, pp. xvi, 61, (2); xlviii. 7 neatly engraved plates. Contemporary diced calf, gilt rules at edges; neatly re-backed in polished calf, gilt; marbled endpaper; marbled page edges. Uncommon, and the first we have handled in some years. Edward Harwood (d. 1814) was a Naval Surgeon- and served under Captain William Bligh (1791-1794). He assisted Pinkerton in producing the third edition of his Essay on Medals. The present publication catalogues and illustrates his rather fine collection of rare Greek coins. HIs collection of Greek, Roman coins and numismatic books was sold at Sothebys, London 28-30 April, 1814.
