Contemporary speckled full calf, raised bands, backs gilt; joints cracked; marbled endpapers, red page edges; some browning, but a good complete set of this important work. Gabriel Abot de Bazinghen was Councillor at the Paris Mint. This important work, in dictionary form covers the history of coins from the ancients to 18th century French coinages; the names, weights and the values of the coins from the beginning of the French monarchy through to the Edict of January 1726; the work also deals with the coinages of Asia, Africa and America, as well as all the principal states of Europe from 1258 to the first quarter of the 18th century.
